Winter has been slow to arrive in the Big Apple, too — and I’m not complaining at all. Yesterday was the anniversary of the Blizzard of ’96 when we had a snowstorm that lasted something like 30 hours. It was exquisitely beautiful for about an hour. After that it turned sooty and yellow-tainted (Ralph, you know what that’s about). I don’t think it finished melting until April. Be careful what you wish for. Don’t knock dustings!
That’s what Sara says. She says I’m downright crazy to want any snow. And it’s true. It soon gets ugly and dirty–yellow, thanks to the Ralphs in our lives.
Did you get a lot of snow? I hope the dogs enjoyed it.

A mere dusting, not even enough to cover the grass. However, Ralph does, indeed, love it! He scampers in it.

That is the tidiest winter yard I’ve ever seen. Not a leaf to be seen!

You’re a sweetie, Rose. Sara raked all of the leaves at the end of the fall. She cleaned it up beautifully and gets all the credit.

I loved it, too. However, I have to confess that I had hoped for more.

No, no. That’s all the snow we’ve had, and it was a mere dusting. I have no idea where winter is this year.
